A TRIBUTE TO MAYOR EMORY FOLMAR

I can hardly find the words to express the incredible, the unbelievable fact that Mayor Emory Folmar is no longer among the living. How can it be true? He was so full of energy and life. He was one of the few leaders with respect to whom we can use that noun with such complete accuracy. He was colorful and controversial. He was a conservative republican and because of that, he wasn’t the most popular man among the Liberal Community in Montgomery. However, among conservatives in Montgomery he was admired and believed to be an outstanding Mayor. I will always remember and appreciate his kindness, words of wisdom and encouragement as I served as Chairman of the Republican Council. I will also treasure the exchange of Christmas cards over the last ten years. Mayor Folmar was a great Mayor. He will be missed by all who loved and admired him.

In the words of my dad, You must honor the chair whether it is sitting, walking or lying down.”
