In 2006 I wrote an article titled “A Bonafide Genius” wherein I literally bragged about my brilliant daughter, Alexis Ivana Griffin. Well I am bragging again only because I believe that parents should be just as excited about the academic excellence of our children as we are about their success in sports. Well it is time to start the bragging.

Alexis a student at Loveless Academic Magnet Program (LAMP) with a 4.4 grade point average has received letters from all of the IVY LEAGUE schools asking her to apply to their school. Yesterday she received a letter from a non Ivy, but good school, the University of Pittsburgh one of my alma maters asking her to apply for their bimolecular engineering program with a guaranteed seat in their medical school if she is accepted into the program. We have a huge plastic garbage bag full of letters from colleges and universities throughout the country. She will decide soon which schools she will apply to and ultimately which one she will attend.

We hope that she will look carefully at each school and decide which one can help her to reach the goals that she has set in life. She has always been taught to give back to the community and not to be afraid to change the world!
