ABOLISH RACIAL CATEGORIZATION

President Barack Obama the 44^th President of the United States is not the first Black President! He is instead the first identifiable multi-racial President-yes I said it! Until the mid-20^th century, several states considered a person to be black if he had one great-grandparent that was black. A Virginia law, the 1924 Racial Integrity Act went further, defining someone to be black, “every person in whom there is ascertainable any Negro blood”-the so-called one-drop rule. This law was overturned in 1968 in the case of Loving vs. Virginia. There is patently no legitimate overriding purpose independent of invidious racial discrimination to justify classifying President Barack Obama as Black. In fact it is proven that race is socially and culturally constructed, not determined by biology. Less than ten genes out of 30,000  determine skin color. Why we place so much importance on visible physical traits befuddles me. So this is where we are headed. There is simply no legitimate purpose for us to categorize people by race. On average we all share 99.9 percent of the same genetic material in common. Of the 0.1 percent variation that does exist, 85 percent exists because any two people are different individuals. The genetic differences between the races are negligible. Thanks to the election of Barack Obama and the silliness of classifying him as Black we are headed to a society where we will eventually wake up and not classify people by race and that is good.
