ACADEMY AWARDS

I nearly broke my neck to return home and watch the Oscars. To my chagrin it was the most boring Oscar show to date. I was pleased that Monique won Best Supporting Actress, but that alone was not enough to save the show. They had Tyler Perry presenting for Best Editor, but that also was not enough to save the show.

If more African American artists do not receive awards and recognition the academy awards show will lose a significant amount of African American viewers. The awards seem to be given out based on politics more so than talent. If the Academy was smart it would at least have more entertainment that catered to African American audiences. Why not have entertainers such as Mary J. Blige,  Kanye West, Kid Cudi, John Legend, Usher, Anthony Hamilton, or Robin Thick. If push comes to shove they can have Gucci Mane and the So Icey Entertainment Crew for a few moments to appeal to the underclass.

Well I have whined enough. I am now holding my breath to see which picture will win in the Best picture category. There it goes,   Best Picture: The Hurt Locker: (Kathryn Bigelow); Best Actor in a leading Role: Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart) Best Actress in a Leading Role: Sandra Bullock (Blind Side); Best Director: Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker). I am going to bed.

In the words of my dad, You must honor the chair whether it is sitting, walking or lying down.”
