Griffin Speaks DR. NATALYN HAWK
I
was so grateful that she has agreed to serve as a mentor to my daughter
Alexis who would like to follow in her footsteps. I was very impressed with
the way her colleagues responded to her on the tour of her clinic. You could
see how much they admired and loved her. Alexis was awe struck and so were
Greg Jr. and I. When
the tour ended and we said our good-byes we left to meet another dear friend
who gave me two original copies of Martin Luther King JR’s, funeral
programs. They were in mint condition. To me they are priceless. Debra and I
had donated our original programs years ago to a Civil Rights museum in
Selma, Alabama. They were destroyed in a fire when the Legal Corporation of
Alabama’s office building burned to the ground. Attorney Carolyn
Gaines-Varner, sister of Attorney Rose Sanders and then Managing Attorney at
Legal Services Corporation of Alabama had taken the priceless programs to
her office to put them in a new shadow box. Once
we left my friend we went to my favorite chicken wing restaurant where to my
surprise a couple came in and set a few tables over from us with their pet
dog. The dog sat at the dining table and I lost my appetite. I immediately
asked my server if I could speak to the manager. The manager came, I
complained about the dog eating at the table. The manager looked at me as if
I was a fool. ONLY
