BREAKING  BAD HABITS

What is a habit? A habit is something that we do so often that we perform it so frequently that we do it involuntarily. Some habits are good such as brushing one’s teeth or washing one’s hands after using the restroom. Some habits are considered bad such as smoking, drinking in excess or eating too much food.

Many people spend a great deal of money trying to break bad habits without any success. The reason for the lack of success is their inability to change their decisions. Changing your decisions will change your life. Experts tell us that you can change any habit in twenty-one days. You can create change in your life.

Don’t let anything master you. You have 10,000,000,000 to 14,000,000,000 nerve cells in your cerebral cortex, and we know that they are all arranged in a particular way, use them!

If you want to change a habit you need to ask yourself, “what is the benefit?” You will often find that a bad habit has no benefit. So simply replace the bad habit with a good one. If you eat too much at mealtime get in the habit of not going back for seconds. If you are use to going home lying on the couch and watching television after work simply go and do something different after work. If you are use to going to happy hour after work go to some place different after work.

You can create a great change in your life if you simply let go of the bad habits in your life. It is not as difficult as you may think. If you talk to successful people you would find that they are not more intelligent than you are. The difference is often that successful people have good habits. Successful people are usually disciplined. They refrain from doing things that do not have a positive benefit. They refuse to tolerate things that hinder their success. They listen to their pain. What you tolerate you can not change. Listen to your pain. The pain in your life will inspire you to change your life. You can pull out of the rut if you simply accept the fact that God gave us the will to choose! In twenty-one days you can change your life and determine your circumstances. I DID IT AND SO CAN YOU!
