Griffin Speaks RING AROUND THE COLLAR
I took my shinning blue suit to the ONE-HOUR DRY CLEANERS only to be laughed at by the clerk. She said, "I don’t care what the sign says, we don’t dry clean in one hour." I told her to get a good look at me because I am going to make the owner remove his one-hour dry cleaning sign. I filed a lawsuit in Small Claims Court and reached a confidential settlement with the owner of the cleaners. You probably have noticed that today there is no one hour dry cleaning sign posted in Montgomery, Alabama.I won that battle, but I still believe that I lost the war with the local dry cleaning industry. Years later I am still not able to find a cleaners that meet my satisfaction. When it comes to cleaning my white shirts I am totally frustrated. A clerk at very popular dry cleaners recently told me that I needed to wash my white shirts before I brought them to the cleaners. She informed me that the cleaners do not wash white shirts. They only starch and iron them. I explained to her that I would no longer do business with them. She smiled and said, "I am sorry, but that is our policy." As a result of my frustration with the local cleaners some good has come of it. My nine-year-old daughter Alexis has started her own business. She now washes starches and irons my white shirts. I pay her one-dollar for each white shirt. She does an excellent job. My eight-year-old son, Christopher does an excellent job on my Sunday shoes. My eleven-year-old, Greg Jr. does an excellent job ironing my pants. We now keep an extra fifty dollars a month in the family. I no longer have ring around the collar.
