Griffin Speaks

THANK YOU

My family and I want to thank you for your support during this difficult period. Many of you attended my brother’s funeral and for that we will always be grateful to you. You helped us to get through that difficult day. This was my first time losing an immediate family member.

When I need professional services I look to see what businesses support the Montgomery Tuskegee Times. When my brother passed I already knew who would handle the funeral. Every week I had read the advertisement that E. G. CUMMINGS MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME placed in the Montgomery Tuskegee Times.

Cummings Funeral home provided us with thoughtful caring and individual services after we placed our trust in them. We were particularly impressed with the home like atmosphere. I walked up to Mr. James Cummings after the funeral and told him that we were 100% satisfied with the services that we received. Several people that attended the funeral commented about the outstanding services rendered by Cummings Funeral home located at 1120 Bragg Street (334)265-9221 or (334) 265-9222.

We want to thank the persons who gave words of expression. Troy King (Governor Bob Riley’s Chief Legal Counsel); Mrs. Janice Hamilton, (Alabama Public Service Commission); Celestine Perkins, (cousin); Rev Al Dixon, (Publisher Montgomery Tuskegee Times); Jane Griffin, (sister-in-law); Keith Walker, (friend); Sidney T. Williams, (Chairman Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles); and Dr. Joe L. Reed, (Chairman Board of Trustees).

We want to thank Mrs. Virginia Bell for singing “Wind Beneath My Wings, Mr. Joe Thomas (my father-in-law) for singing “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and my cousin Deborah Ann Owens for singing “I Won’t Complain.”

Pastor Bennie Liggins delivered a beautiful eulogy. Several out of town family members and friends commented that if they lived in Montgomery they would join Community Congregational United Church of Christ. Last but not least we want to thank my brother’s health care professionals who cared for him over a period of 38 years since his diagnosis with juvenile diabetes at the age of 9.

If you suffer from Diabetes take care of yourself. You have got to exercise, diet, take your medications properly and control your blood sugar. You can prolong that unavoidable day. The day that diabetes wins
