ELECTION 2010

My phone has been ringing off the hook every since the election. Everyone that called wanted to know what I thought about Artur Davis’s election results and Troy King’s election results. As most of my readers know the Attorney general and I are friends. The people voted and having voted Troy King will move on. I still firmly believe that he will eventually be Governor. There have been many politicians that have lost an election and returned to win even bigger elections i.e. (Bill Clinton) and (Richard Nixon). Troy King will live to fight another day. This would be a great time to become a Troy King supporter. Trust me he will be back!

My friend Artur Davis was defeated but not destroyed. He might be back, but so many major law firms will be trying to lure him away from Alabama with multi million dollar contracts he may decide to focus on becoming wealthy and providing a great annual income for his family. Several years ago Artur invited me to lunch to discuss his political future. He was interested in my thoughts because I was the Republican nominee for a seat on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals in 1994. I ran against Judge Sue Bell Cobb who is currently Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. I received over 500,000 votes and still was the only republican who did not win a seat on the court in that election. I was not supported by any of the Black political organizations or Black political bosses. I still almost won, but my opponent was the hardest working candidate in Alabama. She never underestimated my ability to win. My advice to Artur was that he would not receive the support of the African American voters in Alabama because the political bosses would not support him. Artur lost his first race for congress, but won all the rest in his congressional district. Artur’s defeat last Tuesday was a set back, but he can return stronger if he learns from the mistakes he made in this election. Any person who runs as a democrat in Alabama must kiss the rings of the Black political bosses. That is Alabama Politics 101.

Congressman Davis is smart don’t count him out. He will be back. It is rumored that President Obama is trying to get him to accept the United States Attorney position in the Middle District. I guess we will just have to wait and see how all of this plays out.
