Griffin Speaks FAST AND PRAY
I will fast and I will pray. These are powerful words because through fasting and prayer, God can transform anyone’s life. As I rapidly approach my golden half-century of life I realize that it is high time for an extraordinary life changing experience. I plan to obtain this life changing experience by fasting and praying on a regular basis. Fasting is by far the most fascinating and powerful spiritual discipline. God tells us in Chronicles 7:14-15 “If my people called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land…” To voluntarily give up food in order to focus on God and his Holy Word is nucleus of fasting. All of the significant characters in the Bible fasted. Moses fasted during his forty days on Mt. Sinai. It was during that time that Moses received the Ten Commandments. David fasted when he learned that Saul and Jonathan had been killed. The lists goes on and on. To assist me in my desire to properly fast I have purchased a wonderful book. The book “fasting” written by Rev. Jentezen Franklin is selling like hotcakes in bookstores everywhere. This book truly opens the door to a deeper, more intimate, more powerful relationship with the Holy Father. Jentezen Franklin is the pastor of Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia. He leads a congregation with 10,000 in attendance each week. He also leads a congregation in Orange County, California. So in a few months when you see me and I appear to look a little different you will know why. I have purchased Jentezen Franklin’s powerful book on fasting and accessed the power of Biblical fasting and it has transformed my life! In the words of my dad, “If these gas prices get any higher I am going to buy me a horse!” Greg Griffin is a free lance writer.
