Griffin Speaks

FOREVER YOUNG

William Noonan, John F. Kennedy JR’s best friend has written a page-turner in his uniquely intimate story about his close friendship with the Prince of Camelot. Noonan shared many adolescent experiences with John in Hyannisport, Massachusetts. The two of them were typical wealthy teenagers frequenting the beach, attending yacht club dances, exotic road trips and smoking cigarettes on the widow’s walk of the Kennedy home and drinking beer together.

Noonan provides his readers with the inside scoop on the private life of John. I believe that John would have been very pleased with the book. Both John and William lost their fathers while they were young boys. Despite this tragic lost in their lives each boy copes with the lost and ultimately move on and live happy lives.

Noonan has written a humble and touching book. He reveals never-revealed details about John’s relationship with his wife Carolyn Bessette. He also writes about the beginning of the magazine George, John’s close relationship with his mother, and the terrible plane crash that occurred on July 16, 1999 when John, 38, his wife Carolyn, 33 and her sister Lauren, 34, all were tragically killed. The trio was en route to visit Noonan and attend a family wedding. They were going to drop Lauren off at the Vineyard.

Noonan also shares stories about John’s relationship with celebrity women: Darryl Hannah and Madonna to name a few. John’s brushes with the paparazzi. And his being selected as People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive”. This book is a touching and revelatory tribute to John F. Kennedy Jr. from his closest and most trustworthy friend. Believe me it is an excellent yawn. I give it five stars!
