I
LOVED LUCY
 When
I was a young lad growing up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina one of my
favorite television situation comedy shows was “I Love Lucy”. Well I truly loved Lucy and all of her cast members. There
was Ricky (Desi Arnaz) Lucy’s real life husband), Lucy (Lucille Ball),
Ethel (Vivian Vance) and Fred (William Frawley). What happened to these
people? Where are they now? Ricky died from lung cancer at the age of 69, on
December 2, 1986. He was diagnosed in early 1986. Lucy died from a
dissecting aortic aneurysm at the age of 77 on April 26, 1989. She and Ricky
had two children. Fred died from a heart attack while walking down Hollywood
Boulevard after seeing a movie at the age of 79 on March 3, 1966. He had no
children. Ethel suffered from breast cancer in 1973 and suffered a stroke in
1977 which left her partially paralyzed. She died at the age of 70 on August
17, 1979. She had no children. Remember Mr. Mooney, the tightfisted bank
executive played by Gale Gordon in the later Lucy shows well he died from
lung cancer at the age of 89 on June 30, 1995. He had no children. The black
and white series originally ran from October 15, 1951 to April 1, 1960 on
CBS. In four of its six seasons the I Love Lucy show was the most watched
show in the United States, and was the first to end its run at the top of
the ratings. I Love Lucy is still syndicated in multiple languages across
the world. The show was set in New York City and centered on Lucy Ricardo
(Lucille Ball), and her Cuban singer/bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo (Desi
Arnaz), along with their landlords and friends Fred Mertz (William Frawley)
and Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance). In season two Lucy and Ricky have a son
named Little Ricky and he grows up on the show. I
Loved Lucy!
