Griffin Speaks

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2010

I am certain by now everyone is aware that Christmas is on Saturday. This Christmas is promising to be a very good one for my family. Debra and I have put up a tree after a seven-year break. My brother Melvin J. Griffin Jr., a juvenile diabetic passed away on December 18, 2007. That event ruined my Christmas spirit for a number of years. The passing of my mother in 2007 at age 74 and my dad in 2009 at 79 did not help me to regain my Christmas spirit.

It is amazing how little children can bring the Christmas spirit back. The new additions to our family, adopted children, Calvin, age 7, Natalie Jermecia, age 5 and Sean, age 4 has brought the Christmas spirit back into our home. Debra has decorated a beautiful tree and the gifts are about to run us out of the house. I have reconnected with a close friend that I thought was dead and out of my life forever. I feel like the biblical character JOB. The Lord has restored my joy. My cup is truly running over with new blessings.

Soon we will be entering a New Year. I am hoping that it will be as good as this last year or better for all of us. My advice to everyone is to hold on to your faith in God and lean not unto your own understanding. There will be good days and bad days, but hopefully the good days will out numbered the bad ones. When you look at your life in review you will realize that you really can’t complain. Count those blessings one by one.

Please know that we love you and hold you in our prayers. Have a very Merry Christmas and your Happiest New Year ever.

In the words of my dad, You must honor the chair whether it is sitting, walking or lying down.”
