SHOPPING ON THE WESTSIDE

I have preached until I was blue in the face that we as African Americans should shop in our communities and do business with businesses that support our communities. On Sunday, January 29th, 2012 I stopped by the Gas Depot on Fairview and the Clerk insulted me so bad that I told him that I was taking my business somewhere else. The first problem I had was the ragged gas pump was not working outside to the extent you had to go inside to use your credit card. When I went inside and handed the clerk my card he immediately without a smile mumbled “can I see your ID.” That did not bother me. What bothered me was when the clerk tried to act like he could not see my name on the credit card. I was dressed in a suit headed to Gadsden, Alabama to attend a funeral. The problem is some of these owners who are really not from our community come into our communities and disrespect us and expect us to patronize their businesses. It will be a BLIZZARD in HELL before I do Business at the Gas Depot on Fairview Avenue again. How are you treated? Spend your money at businesses that treat you with respect. Have you noticed how some of these Owners treat you when you patronize their businesses? Take note and demand respect. If they can not smile and act like they want your business then walk out and do like me and never return!

In the words of my dad, “You must honor the chair whether it is sitting, walking or lying down.”
