THE HEART OF THE KING

In the hand of God is the King’s heart; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases. Proverbs 21:1 God is still in control. So often we have not because we ask not.

I firmly believe that God can direct the heart of those in power. He knows the end of the story. I remember the story of Cyrus, King of Persia. He was named by the prophet Isaiah as God’s chosen one to rebuild Jerusalem’s temple. Cyrus did the following in fulfilling that prophesy. He released Jews who desired to go and to give to do so. He returned the articles from the temple which had been confiscated by King Nebuchadnezzar 70 years earlier. Five thousand four hundred utensils made of silver and gold were returned to Jerusalem. Forty-two thousand three hundred sixty Israelites returned and the temple was rebuilt. As Cam Newton Auburn’s quarterback said just the other day, “See what God can do!”

I pray often for our leaders. I believe that when we pray, God hears us. So pray for our leaders that God will direct their hearts like a watercourse and turn those hearts in the right direction.

In the words of my dad, You must honor the chair whether it is sitting, walking or lying down.”
